Guys
How much you can afford giving to BCIS officers if they start taking bribe, or in other words what should be there bribe rate
:D ;)

See that is the difference between the US and countries like India and China. Here you cannot bribe to expedite your case. Makes me think bribes are good.

I think you should delete this thread. Remember we sent petition to all congress offices and media, don't want them to say we are prone to bribe.

We're honest ppl, we just want our cases get approved in a reasonable amount of time. Bribe will not solve our problem.

Why do you think BRIBEer :D is dis-honest ?
We are "giving" bribe to get the thing we are entitled for - everything as per their rules/laws.

Bribe is the simplest way of solving complex problems.

REMEMBER : If at all it starts, you will join the band-wagon
definitely - some time later :D:D

This reminds of the dialogue from Shankar's "HINDUSTANI" (Indian, Bharathiyudu..........), "In most of the countries they bribe to do something against law but in India we have to bribe the officials even to do their work per law".

When taking money is institutionalized by the dept/govt then it is not considered as bribe. Bribe is acceptance of money/gift/favour by an individual/group which does not have the sanction of Law.

Now what people see helplessly is dept/govt spending the allocated funds for a specific purpose being spent somewhere else without any accountability.

The problem is accountabilty. To improve this the departtments needs to be more autonomous and self sufficient.

Since DHS is more autonomous, they use the money allocated for immigration purposes towards only immigration control rather than using that for processing our application eventhough it is our money.

Doesn't solve the prob. What is everyone is ready to give bribe.

Then again, we are back to Square one.

pingpong02 making autonomous or self-suffient will not solve the corruption. If the things are in priavte people's hands, you can kiss corruption good-bye.

Has anyone gone through buying sugar on a ration-card 15-20 years ago in India? That is what you will get when it is under Govt. control.

frantic,

You are correct. Privatization and compettition will go a long way in reducing inefficiency and corruption.

But I do not think we will ever see a private company approving GCs. There are tasks where you cannot expect privitasation. This is where accountability comes into picture.

Private participation works even in Govt. tasks. Look at the contracts being done efficiently by Lockheed Martin, Boeing etc. for defense.
