Assume that a baby is born in India and both parents are LPR:

I know the baby will get LPR status when it enters with parents at POE.

Will baby also get citizenship during the same time when parents get their citizenship? or Should the baby wait for 5 years from date of entry to apply for citizenship?

Being a LPR kid, Will there be any difference in pre-schools/schools?
Being a LPR turned Citizen, Will there be any difference in schools/colleges?

Or Is there any other disadvantage?

Please share your thoughts.....

If the baby is born aborad to LPR parents, baby will get the LPR status at POE upon parents first trip to USA within 2 yrs (verify the timeframe). It has to be the first trip back. Baby will get the citizenship when at least one of the parents naturalize as long as the child is not over 18. If the child get to be over 18, then s/he will have to apply for naturalization on own.

No difference for being an LPR Kid in schooling or college. As a citizen the child will probably qualify for more scholarships and loans. If the child is a born citizen, then he/she can become the U.S. President, not possible if born abroad as a LPR then turned US citizen.

Follow-up question on the same

My husband and I have GC for the past 4 years through his employer. we are pregnant and we are thinking of having the baby in India. how would a visa be processsed for the baby to re-enter the USA and Do I need a parole to stay out of US for 8 months.
Thanks.

Baby will get GC at POE (first trip to US), baby should be accompanied by at least one parent.

I think Re-entry permit is required only if you are planning to stay more than a year. If you are sure you will come back within 8 months, then you don't need it.

you need to consider this...
if u leave for india for say 8 months you will not be eligible to apply for citizenship till u get back from india+4yrs...
apart from that if u r going out of u.s for more than a year u need to apply for a re-entry permit....
i would suggest u apply for a re-entry permit and proceed with ur trip....
coz once a baby is born u never know u might wanna have to stay for some more time(+1 or 2 months!)

please be carefull as u will be eligible for citizenship this year...but if u go to india for more than 6 months u will have to wait for 4 more years....
