Today, Tuesday, I went to the SJ INS office at 12:30pm looking for
information about getting iEAD for my wife as a L2. Her EAD application
was more than 90 days (Receive Date: March 11, 2002 -
Notice Date: March 12, 2002).
I wanted to find out all info first before going to the office tomorrow
at 2:00 AM as advised by some of the entries in this forum
To my surprise, there was only about 20 people in the waiting room, I went
up to the info booth and they said that they were still giving out numbers.
(They did not give me a number saying that only applicant can get a number)
I called my wife and she went up there at about 1:15pm. Showed them the
the EAD notice and got the number A74 (currently serving A61).
They wanted passport or driver license for ID.
We filled out another I-765, did not pay any fee, and within the hour,
my wife is called in to do the paperwork and take the picture - total 15
minutes. We had to wait until 2:55 to get the card. Total time: 2:30.
My advise:
1/ INS still gives out iEAD, at least for L2
2/ Stop by and get a number if you can. No need to wait from 2:00 am
