ID for FP

Is Passport required for FP or any other forms of identification acceptable in INS Newark (NJ)? Could anybody post their experiences please.

My Passport got bruised accidentally. Though, all the details are intact, I may have to apply for a Duplicate which could take 2 months (as per Indian emassy people). That is the reason why I am asking this question. Please share any experiences.
 
Driver\'s License or a state issued i.d. is also acceptable

did my fingerprinting yesterday and i only showed my driver\'s license but just the same i brought my passport with me. they did not ask for it. location: LA

Carry your passport (bruised or otherwise). They accept any form of id (EAD / Drivers License etc.) but carry the passport just in case.
