I90 Pending..Help Pls..!

Hi,
My friend's I90 is pending w/ INS for close to an year, for name change in his physical GC. I551 expiring soon...!
How many months before the actual expiry of I551, can one go for another I551 Stamping, w/ I90 Pending..

Yes!

The stamp shouldn't be a problem.

When I applied for replacement GC I went to the local office and got my passport stamped.

Don't worry about it. Your friend won't lose LPR status if the GC expires.

That I don't know. When I got my passport re-stamped I had no physical GC at all.
I suppose if your friend's GC expires in a month or so and (s)he want's to travel abroad that would be a valid reason to get a stamp.:confused:
 
I am in a similar situation. My i90 was filed last August and the stamp is expiring in 10 days. Should I go to renew the stamp or it does not matter. I want toi make sure I will not get into any trouble if id do or don't. Any help will be greatly appreciated
 
I think one should get restamped 30 days before it expires. A frined of mine recieved green card replaced recently. It took almost 15 months to get the new one. Passport was stamped twice.
 
Thank you all. I will go next week. I just dread everytime I have to go to INS office. Also if you can tell me if there are any special papers I should take with me for stamping extension.
 
I just the INS case online status and it said your approval has been mailed to you on August 15th. Most likely it is just the approval letter and not the card. Do I still go for stamping my stamp is expiring on August 26th. Please advise
