I am currently working in USA. I need help regarding I-824 filing.
I have my I-140 approved with AOS option.
Now I would like to change this to Consular processing. (to Mumbai Consulate)
My Question is there is no place where we can enter the consulate information in I-824.
The option I see is Part-2,option-D which is "USCIS to send approved immigrant visa to the national visa center"
But it does not ask for which consulate.
Where as I see an option in I-140 petition,where we can enter consulate city and Country.
When NVC receives my I-140 approval package,how would they determine which consulate to use since there is no place to enter this information in I824.
The only hint NVC may have is the foreign address which I specified in I140 petition to part4. Would they assign the consulate based on this.
The following link from state dept says that NVC will determine which consulate to forward the approved immigrant petition

Can anyone tell me how this is going to play. I wanted to pick Mumbai for my consulate processing since my H1B stampings were from Mumbai.
I would like to mention Mumbai as my preference for cp. But there is no place to mention this in I824.
