I have submitted my I485 on 10/00 when I was single. I got my EAD, AP no problem there. I got married and submitted my wife\'s amended I485 in 6/01 along with 4 checks for her I485 application.
I was not getting my wife\'s I485 receipt all these days. I have noticed people who have submitted later than me were getting the receipts. I called INS yesterday. They told me that my wife\'s case was rejected because they couldn\'t fine the proper fee along with the application. I was really stunned. This happned on 8/14 it seems.
I called my attorney and inquired. She told me, INS was expecteing fee for both my application and my wife\'s. The reality is mine I have already paid. INS has sent back the entire packet. They have put in 6th June\'01 date on my application and on my wife\'s application checks also. My attorney has submitted the my wife\'s application again stating all the facts in it with the same checks that were sent back. She told me it\'s totally INS fault. She has address the packet and the letter to I485 supervisor. She told me since it\'s their fault and the letter is address to the supervisor, it will be entered into the system immediately. God only knows what\'s going to happen.
My question is
1)What if I get my approval before they enter my wife\'s application in the system (consider the dealys at Vermont center)
2)Can I talk to the INS Vermont director directly (has any one did like this before - if so please let me know how?)
3)What are my other options.
