Hello All:

My sister has sponsored my mother for Permanent Resident.

My mother has initial interview for I485 on July 9 at Durham , NC.

We have submitted Affidavit of support, Medical Exam etc when applying for 485.

The interview letter says "You must bring the following items with you" and there is a list if items in there, which include Affidavit of support, Medical Exam..

Please help me with these questions:
1) Since we have submitted them (Affidavit of support, Medical Exam )with the 485 Application, what documents should we take to the interview.
2) Is the interview just a formality or should we prepare for some complex questions etc.

Thanks in advance for your help!!

its a generic letter than is sent to everyone. Just take whatever is on that list that you have not already submitted.
Me and ur mom have thesame interview date. Wish her best of Luck.

Take the original supportive doc that submitted along with your application package with you, the officer might not check on everything, but better bring it with you. As far as the I-864 form, you only need to bring the tax return forms (last 3 years) and recent pay stubs I guess. For my parents, the whole interview was very relaxing and short, since both of my parents name check were not cleared, the interview officer even gave us a fax number to remind him once the name check is pending for 180 days. For our interview, the officer only asked for showing the original copies of passports, birth certificates, and my parents marriage certificate. Good luck!

Hello

Just an FYI, we took a photocopy of everything for the interview and the officer said he does not need to see any copies as he has the originals in front of him.

Mom got approved. Card production ordered. However I checked the I-130 status online and there is no update on the I-130.

Thanks!!
