Hello All,

I am a USC applying for GC for my wife. We had I130 approved while I was a permenant resident and I became a US citizen and we applied for her I485. We have been asked to appear in local USCIS field office for an interview. Is this standard? Also anything to watch out for? Is it similar to US Citizenship interview?

Thanks

This is standard practice. All marriage based applicants go through an "interview" where the USCIS tries to ascertain the bona fide nature of your marriage. Make sure you take all necessary evidence to prove your marriage (for as long as it has existed). If you look around this site, you can find others experience and what to take for these interviews. Have your documents and necessary evidence handy.

They are NOT like the citizenship interview (no civics tests, knowledge of English, etc)

Be prepared to answer questions about your relationship and where you live and be in sync with your answers. Some people get into trouble because they answered questions differently even though the same underlying facts were in their brain.

For example, the interviewer asks how many TVs are in your house. Wife answers 2, husband answers 3 because the husband counted the broken one in the closet. Or they ask when and where you went for your first date. Different answers are given because the first time they went out together included other friends, and one spouse considered that a date but the other one didn't think of it as a date because of the presence of the other friends.
