I485 / EAD question

I an interested in getting information about EAD in the scenario explained below,

I filed my I485 - AOS in Novemebr 2002. I'll get my EAD shortly,

With the agreement of my present employer who filed AOS, can I start working on 1099 - Individual contract using EAD on the full time basis with other xyz company before 180 days of filing AOS?

During this period, Is it required that my present employer pays me salary in order to keep my I485 process on?

Legally no. You cannot work for other company full time and you need to stay and get paid with ur current employer for 6 months. After 6 months yes, you can work for any other employer with similar job responsibilities.
