I485/CP - Critical Marriage issue.. Gurus pls help

Hi,

 I am a bachelor and recently received 140 approval..
I am planning to get married by the end of this year(2002) or next year. So not sure about marriage date/time and am planning to apply for CP( Madras Counsulate)
   
Q) If I apply for CP and get approval before marriage, what is the process to get wife to US (not through H1/F1). Has anybody gone through this process of getting wife to US based on one\'s own green card. How risky/time consuming is this process.
 
 Any help in solving this critical problem is appreciated.
 
Follow-up

- If I go through 485, can I stop the application processing in the middle so that approval
is not fast( I know its weird but no choice. Like say don\'t submit FP or don\'t apply for AOS or not applying for AP)

Pls advise...
