Hey guys just wanted to know if there is any way we can find a count of the number of I485 cases filed since say 1st nov 2001 to say Jan 20th 2002. Just a date range which we can use ..

Getting the exact number is difficult...

although there is a statistical thread in the Nebraska issues forum by the user - ImmigrationUsa which is tracking two days in Nov 01 and jan 02. The next best thing I have found is www.rupnet.com/immigration and an excel spreadsheet (attached - created by paulclarke1) which estimates approval times based on this sample (some assumptions are made but I guess that is as good as anything)

After looking at this spreadsheet it suggest that there not a whole lot of cases filed since Jan 2002 onwards. Does that mean that processing times will increase due to less cases filed.

ALso It is is possible that not everyone posts their info on Rupnet. So a lot of people may not have posted their info there.

So basically this spreadsheet may mean nothing although the analysis is quite good.

Thanks !!

puneet, it is a fact

that there are fewer cases at all service centers since the end of 2001 as the hump around June/July 2001 was due to the priority date becoming current. The assumption is that

1. the cases on rupnet are a fair indication of the overall volume
2. the cases that have been touched on a weekly basis.

For Jan2003 filers like me the hope is that the adjudication will be faster for 2002 cases and the BCIS accountability factor would hopefully work in our favor.

Rsur !! Although I find your answer encouraging but rationally thinking I dont think it is possible. According to your analysis it seems that RD OCt 2002 would get approval by Jun end 2003. That seems highly unlikely at the rate at which is NSC is moving.

I would even not be surprised if I get my approval by Jun 2004 (1 year more than rupnet analysis) looking at how the NSC is crawling these days.

Hope your analysis is true though !!

From the Spread sheet that is available on rupnet, i guess it has only the cases that people have put on rupnet from the CSC, but what about the cases that have not been registered on rupnet.

Say there would be tons of people who would have entered their details on rupnet, so the stats that i see on this excel sheet could not be perfect.

I was looking if i can find an program which can get me the count of I485 cases which are registered during a particular amount of period and how many of them have been cleared and how many still are remaining.

If you guys come across any such kinda program do post it on this thread.

I talked to my Attorney who has got links at the CSC and she told that things don't seem to be moving at all since last 2 weeks. The CSC expects the I485 case approvals to start from April sometime.
