hi
first, thanks to all the participants of this forum who have contributed positively.... your feed back was very helpful.
my spouse and i went for our interview in orlando florida.... and we got our approval stamped on the passport.
filed 485 in July 2001 with TSC. got my FP in march 2003, got 3 EADs, got 3 APs in the meantime. case got transferred in nov 2003 to orlando, local
office. got an RFE from local office around april 21st, to bring the following
- employment letter, paystubs, marriage certificate, irs returns, birth certificate, proof of marriage (mortgage, deeds, retirement accounts), etc..
before i could respond to the RFE, got the interview notice on May 2, asking us to bring all the stuff requested in the RFE to the interview on May 20.
i was a bit concerned as to why my case was tranferred. it was a very straight forward case. work for the same government agency for the
past five years. but my guess, and what i read on the forums may be true... any case pending over 2.5 years are being transferred to local office.
went for the interview this morning. it was at 8:30 and they took us in at 8:30. the officer was very professional and courteous. after a little small
talk, and the oath, she opened my file and asked what i had brought...and i just gave her my file (please go well organized) with the originals. she flipped through the file and asked for photocopies. asked questions like, dob,
snum, place of birth, mothers name, fathers name, date entered the country, port of entry, ever been convicted/deported, married, children, do you still work for the same employer. the only thing i did not anticipate, was her asking for my original I-120 (from 9 yrs back)that i had used to enter the country as a grad student.
then she took my fingerprints and signature on a card and stamped my passport. after which she took my wife's file and asked the same basic
questions and took her fingerprints, signature and stamped her passport. she said there was no reason to answer the RFE and we should be getting our
plastic cards within 6 months. the whole interview took about 20 - 25
minutes.
to those who are still awaiting the GC, our best wishes for an expedient processing of your case.
