I485 aproval after I sent renewal for EAD

HI members,
I received an e-mail from USCIS staying that they sent today my I-485 aproval letter .
Last week I sent my renewal for EAD. Do I get my money back? Can I work w/o EAD, and jut the aproval letter???? :confused:
