I181 Pending - CREATION OF RECORD OF LAWFUL PERMANENT RESIDENCE

Hi,
I married to a USC and I filed I-485 in 03/31/2005 and my case has been pending since 08/25/2005 for I181.

Can anybody tell me how long does it take to be approved for I181?

I tried to check the timeline online but I do not see Form I181 listed?

We process cases in the order we receive them. You can use our processing dates to estimate when yours will be done. This case is at our CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER location.

Have you made an infopass recently to ask what's going on with your case?

Not necessarily! My father's case has been pending since July, 2005 (background check delay), and his case status has the same message.
 
I'll freely admit that I've never heard of the I-181 before this post. Anyone care to explain what its all about?
 
Thanks. I wonder why some people get that message and others don't. My case went straight from "pending" to "approved", without any mention of any I-181.

Ya. My background check has remained open since August 2005. But I am not sure why when I check the status online, it keeps showing pending I181 and no mention of I-485.

Can anybody tell me how long does it take for the background check to be completed? Is there a chance that the background check would not be approved? If so, under what circumstances?

Sep 26, 2005 - Attended AOS interview and our case was APPROVED!
Sep 20, 2005 - Received AOS interview letter
Aug 15, 2005 - Picture and FP taken, got my EAD card from LADO right away
Aug 09, 2005 - FP for I-485 Done
July 21, 2005 - Received I-485 FP appointment letter from LADO
July 20, 2005 - Received EAD appointment letter from LADO
April 13, 2005 - Check was cleared
March 28, 2005 - LADO received the package
March 24, 2005 - Mailed I-130, I-485, I-765 applications to LADO
