My employer filed concurrently for my I140 and I485. I have got my EAD but my I140 is not approved yet. If I get layed off now, will I be able to get another job or am I out of status and have to leave the country?

My employer filed concurrently for my I140 and I485. I have got my EAD but my I140 is not approved yet. If I get layed off now, will I be able to get another job or am I out of status and have to leave the country?
In order to be safe (to stay in the country legaly with or without the job) you need to fulfill two requirements:
1) approved I-140
AND
2) I-485 pending for more than 180 calendar days
EAD is of no use as long as you don't meet the above mentioned criteria.
