I140 & i485 when L1 visa is not valid.

Hi,
i am on L1A visa, my company is about to close our office abroad soon,
i have I140, I-485 filed,havnt heard back yet.
I already received the EAD card.
is it true that if my L1 is not Valid anymore then my I-140 is denied? can i work in the U.S on my EAD status until the I-140 is approved/denied?i

I am on an L1A as well with an EAD. You can continue to work on your EAD, your L1 doesnt need to be valid for your 140 approval, you just need to be in a valid status and the EAD is good enough. So, yes, you can. Just confirm with your own attorney though.
