I140 filed/pending, Can I file 485 ?

My I-140 was filed few months back, still pending. Can I file I-485 now since my PD has become current or shall I have to wait until my I-140 gets approved. All I want to know is that if for some reason a person couldn't file I-140/485 concurrently, can (s)he file 485 anytime after filing 140 or does (s)he have to wait until the I-140 gets approved?

You must have filed I 140 through a lawyer so it is best to ask the lawyer for further course of action even though I 485 is mostly biographic information and nothing to do with qualifications etc. The company lawyer should give that advise free of cost.
 
my company lawyers are too slow and are not that good, thats why I wanted to get some opinion from you guys. Anybody else wants to chip in. Please do.
