My H1B expiring 1 Oct 06. I 140 approved Feb 05. PD- EB3 14 Dec 01.
Do I need to file extension of my H1B.
Already have emplyment cards for self and Family.

It is always safer to have H-1B as backup status. Only if you feel very confident (and who does really?) or if you have no other choice, use EAD and get off H-1B.

Thanks for response. Really appreciate your reply. not clear about "use
EAD and get off H-1B." I already have EAD till 6 apr 07.

What that means is if you don't file H1B extension you will be working for your employer on EAD instead of H1B going forward. If your employer pays for it, it is better to file H1-B extension (both EAD and H1-B will have to be renewed every year). EAD will be your backup (in case you are let go you can work elsewhere on EAD).

Also if you don't have valid AP, file for H1-B extension, you can travel abroad (what if there is an emergency?) and come back using that. You will need EAD/AP otherwise.
