I wonder...

You know, I have read so many posts by our fellow friends regarding their conversations with the IIO. Some IIOs said cases are assigned and some said it's pending. What do they mean, I wonder by their definition of assigned and pending? Does pending comes first or does it comes after being assigned to the IIO? Just curious...:D Anyone care to explain?

This is my 2 cents on the iio use of these two words:
"Pending" would suggest both: a state of being (of cases) prior to assignment to an officer, and a state of being after assignment to an officer. A case could be "pending" with an officer who is so m@#$%^% busy doing whatever that he has little time to devote to the real work that he/she is paid to do.

The word "assigned" is pretty uncomplicated--just means its been assigned. No nuances here!

Having said this, I don't beleieve these iio's are in the business of semantics--they are wholesale a#$%^s who just say whatever it takes to get us off the phone.

Pending could be also because waiting for FBI checks to come back...possibly but of course in the INS world, IIO rules. Guess we have to play by their rules and definitions.
