I want to cry...

I have sent a ton of paperwork to the USCIS. They then sent me an RFE a month ago and I responded to that with another ton of paperwork. I am pretty sure I have sent everything that would need to be sent for that case and yet today my new online status says "requested additional evidence". I wonder what that's for especially since I can't think of a single thing that I may have missed in previous correspondence. I just want to cry. That's all:(...

Now there, remember that this is usually a long and sometimes frustrating process. Tell that to yourself and be prepared for these hurdles and hang in there. Nobody said this would be a walk in the park. As you can see from the many posts on these forums the process is described as unfair, slow, frustrating and I can continue with many other characterizations but what matters is that in the end it will be sweet.

yeah, I know, you're right. I have been waiting since 2002 (and many more years prior to that actually) so I know this is a long process it's just that I am so baffled. I have sent everything they could possibly ask for so I just can't for the life of me imagine what else they could need. I'm basically freaking out that it'll be something I cannot provide and then I'm screwed.

I don't think they are out to get you :) They usually process based on some rules and it could be that they stumbled on some information that they are missing. This happens usually in cases that drag for long because some things might change and they need to verify. I would put it this way: at least they are processing the case and it is not sitting on a shelf to collect dust. That means you are maybe closer than you think.

Don't worry. Wait for the RFE and respond back to it with what is needed for it.

It is possible that when you sent a "ton of paperwork" in response to the first RFE, the USCIS only kept what "they thought" was specifically needed to answer the RFE and tossed the rest. (The above is just speculation on my part. They are probably required by law to save everything you send them.).
Now they need something else; you already provided it; but they threw it out.

When dealing with government bureaucracy, I think it is better to provide "only" what is needed to prove a point or what has been requested.
Providing "more" will only add to the delays.

Eg: If they ask you to send last 2 paystubs, send only the last 2 paystubs. Do not send a whole year's worth.

Doing some thing over and above the requirement will usually get us some brownie points when you are in school or in a job. But not with government agencies.

Thanks very much to all of you guys for the support. I'm just worried they may ask for something I may not be able to provide even though logically I should be able to provide them with anything they may ask but you know how it is in this situations-you think of the worst case scenarios. Thanks to all of you again. ...and I did cry:(

Antilope,

Take heart. This is a long journey which can be very frustrating. I guess their goal is frustrate us. The immigration system in this country is set up that way. You will prevail in the end. Patience and focus will get the job done. I spent 14 years trying to get a GC. I finally did get it !

I guess it's good to get it out of your system from time to time. Hope it made you feel better. You should probably spend some time off line and enjoy life a bit and not think about your application if even for one week.

Just remember, USCIS cannot ask you to provide something you cannot give them. I mean it cannot be something ridiculous. So far I did not hear somebody not being able to respond to a RFE. There are solutions and workarounds in every case. I hope you will get a better processing from now on.

If they ask for something give them exactly that and nothing more. In some cases, if you provide more information they need to research it more and probably request even more information.

14 years, that is forever! I am so happy for you that you finally got it! I guess I shouldn't be feeling so rotten considering you had it so much worse:o

You're right. I am acting this way because have all my hopes and dreams put on hold because of this thing and sometimes I need to vent a little. I'm so tired of being worried all the time. Thanks for the support to you and everyone, you guys are great.:)

Antilope,
I completely understand. I have been here since '00 - originally applied under 245(i) in 01 - my sponser went bankrupt, I didn't have a valid application until I married my husband in '04 and applied as his spouse.
I have not been able to leave the U.S and go home since '00 ( I left 2 years prior to that and travelled Europe, so it's been almost 10 years).
My husband recieved his green card in August, I recieved NOID in October and now still waiting.
It is hard wait - a long and painfully slow process, but we have all come so far. When you recieve the document, knuckle down and get the info they need. Don't worry about something when you don't know what it is to worry about. You will get the information they need - no problem.
It is nice to have the support online with this forum - we are all in this together.
Best of luck and I will hope for the best for you - as I do for everyone else.

You should check by calling if that application status is ok, maybe it was a system glitch, who knows...

Good luck.

Venting is good once in a while, for anybody.

There is nothing to worry about RFE, in fact, at this stage of the game, it is a sign many people are wishing for - they are working on it.

Only reply to RFE with what was required.

Hope you will hear the good news shortly!
