I really need your help

Since my I-485 has been current since April 2006 and my fingerprint has been 18 months, but I have not heard anything yet. Do they suppose send me a notice if it is been checked or I have to call to find out what is going on? Thank you very much for your help!
 
What's your service center and what's your I-485 receipt date. If USCIS is processing applicatiions with receipt date > your receipt date + 30 days and you have not heard from USCIS about you case in the last 60 days .... then USCIS ask you to call them and inquire about your case status.

My I-485 RD is Oct. 2004, first FP was on March 2005.
I start my case(I-140) in Vermont center, then after I moved to Nebraska center area, my I-140 got approved. Later on our lawyer hand up I-485 application to Vermont center. I am confused about which center it is now .
 
Your case is with the service center that issued your I-485 receipt. Look at the receipt number: if it starts with LIN, it's Nebraska, and if it starts with EAC, it's Vermont. In either case, they both are now officially processing I-485s with much later RDs than October 2004, so you have the right to place a status inquiry. Call 1-800-375-5283.
