824 has been approved but with the new process, it is gonna take a long
time.So can we still do AC-140 inspite of having the approval ?
Should we have to disclose that we have teh approval ??

Thanks for the info..

That\'s possible...

You can go with AC140 even if I-824 is approved. Infact, I sent my I-824 approval notice (in addition to I-824 receipt) along with my AC140 case. My case has been created at Mumbai.

All you have to check for is whether a particular consulate is still accepting AC140 case.

The whole purpose - and Mumbai\'s US consulate\'s management commendably understands it - of AC140 is to finish off the GC process faster. I-824 route to NVC still takes longer and hence consulates, if load permits, do not mind accepting it. Mumbai consulate is really customer friendly in this respect.

And even if the consulate doesn\'t accept your AC140 case, you still have the usual route through NVC. So no harm. I was skeptical about the whole AC140 deal (since Chennai had stopped doing it) but then I-824 approval restored my confidence.

It is possible

Just send AC I-140, I-824 approval, and packet 3 to the concerned consulate. Why you have waited so long for 824 approval? Only Mumbai and Delhi consulate accepts AC 140, so if you are going to Chennai, you have no option but to wait.

passport out of chennai, residence in Mumbai

The reason for my confusion is that my passport was issued out of
Chennai and so the 824 was asked for Chennai..But since my
residence is Mumbai, I was thinking if you could do it in Mumbai
with just 824 receipt rather the approval..

shri ganesh

did NVC create a case for you after I824 approval? I assume you got a case no. from mumbai consulate using ac140. what happens if both create a case no
