Hi There,

I had my interview last week on July 25, the IO was very nice to me , I passed the test of English and US.History and Government, I signed all the necessary documents including my photos. The IO checked the box that says "Congratulation! Your application has been recommended for approval. Then he handed me the Form N-14 and told me to return it with the requested information before August 25(this month.)

I am now confuse now, My wife is a US citizen, we got married in California in 2002 but I did not want to live here in the US, I took her back with me to Sweden and we resided there for 2 years, I was not even interested in getting my Green Card, but my wife wanted to move back to the US because she missed here family, our daughter was born in Sweden. I applied for my Green Card at the US embassy in Stockholm and was approved for a permanent residency right away. We moved back to California in 2005 and have been residing here since then.

1- Now they are asking me for :
2- Birth certificates for my daughter ( No Problem, I have it)
3- Vehicle registration for our car (The car is in my wifes name, is it ok)
4- W-2 forms for both spouses. ( I only have a 1099, is this ok)
5- Rental agreements for the last month (We have this in both names)
6- Bank Checking and saving statements ( My wifes name is not on there?)
7- Copies of Both driver's licenses ( No problem, but here license has an old address and not the current, is it ok to send it anyway?)
8- Tax returns for the year 2007 ( Thanks god we have joint tax return)

Why would they get suspicious when they now we have a kid and we have been married for 6 years?

Do you think I should write a letter to the officer explaining that we have a legitimate marital union, or should I just send what ever I have and hope I will be schedule for the oath Ceremony?

2- Birth certificates for my daughter ( No Problem, I have it) OK
3- Vehicle registration for our car (The car is in my wifes name, is it ok) It seems odd. Why not in both?
4- W-2 forms for both spouses. ( I only have a 1099, is this ok) OK
5- Rental agreements for the last month (We have this in both names) OK
6- Bank Checking and saving statements ( My wifes name is not on there?) There are many reasons that your wife should be on these - not just for immigration. I find this unusual that you don't have at least one joint account. This is an easy fix unless there is some reason that you do not want her to have access to your funds.
7- Copies of Both driver's licenses ( No problem, but here license has an old address and not the current, is it ok to send it anyway?) You are supposed to get new license with DMV when you move. THis should be updated.
8- Tax returns for the year 2007 ( Thanks god we have joint tax return) OK

Why would they get suspicious when they now we have a kid and we have been married for 6 years? Many people have children together and are not in a relationship that qualifies for immigration benefits. Many people just do not get divorced yet lead separate lives. Your car and bank arrangements point to this.

Do you think I should write a letter to the officer explaining that we have a legitimate marital union, or should I just send what ever I have and hope I will be schedule for the oath Ceremony?

I'd fix your "unusual" arrangements rather than submit a letter.
