I have more than one middle name, help please?

Hello,

In my country the full name consists of four names; my name, father's name, grandpa's name, and family name. In my birth certificate and passport, it's written fully in my native language- Arabic. In English, the two middle names (father and grandpa) are written as initials- (A. M.). The case is the same on my last visa to the US. In the DV application, it wasn't accepted to write the two initials (A. M.) due to the use of dots. What shall I do please? I should write it exactly as it appears on my passport!

Thank you,

Rula

Just to be clear: your Middle Name is your second first name (if any). Your third first name would be your second Middle Name. As you mention Arabic, please do not confuse this with Last Names. Are you talking eDV registration?

Thank you for your reply EURO. Yes I'm talking about the DV application.
So, if my full name is Rula A. M. Kattan, on my passport and US visa, Kattan would be my family name, which is my last name. You said that my third name, my grandpa's name, is my second middle name, which is correct, what is my first middle name then? and how should I write them if they are just initials?!

Most importantly, make sure to follow eDV instructions on this and other matters as closely as possible:

"You must provide the following information to complete your entry:

1. Name – last/family name, first name, middle name – exactly as on your passport." (underline added).

I know that it is possible to include several full middle names, in the sequence they are listed in the passport. I never tried to include two or more middle initials, though, even so for the website this should not make much of a difference.
So you would include "Kattan" in the 'Last/Family Name' field, "Rula" in the 'First Name' field and "A.M." in the 'Middle Name' field. Pretty sure this will work?

The problem is that I couldn't put initials as they are written with periods (A. M.) and I'm not allowed to write periods! I'm so confused now. This is exactly how it's written!

If you are sure the periods after both initials are the problem, write "A M", issue resolved as you will be as close to your passport as technically feasible. Good luck!

Yes, thank you so much for your time, I appreciate it :)

You are welcome. Again, good luck. Make sure to follow all other instructions provided as closely as you did on the name issue, and you will be perfectly fine.

We started to apply in 1998, when we first moved to the US. Our family has three First (Given) Names, one Family name, hence we listed full names as listed on respective passports. Good luck to you!

I think this is a tricky one, with the Arabic form having the middle names written out in full but the English version different. Even with those instructions I'm not sure how a consular officer would view initials rather than middle names where those names actually exist. Also ...Remember what is in your DV becomes your official US name in the event you get selected. Surely you don't want your official middle name to be A M ....
so.... My inclination would be to write the full two names out in the entry even in English, because in Arabic they are in full. Perhaps this case is worth contacting the embassy in your country to ask them how to proceed. The two different versions can certainly be reconciled in the DS if selected, but it's important to make sure the entry is correct to avoid disqualification.

Thank you for your reply!
I know, it's given me much confusion! I have an American visa in which my middle name is written also as A. M.
