I have lost my previous passport for the DV interview

I have question: I have seen many posted message saying that one of the requisites for the DV interview is that the interviewee has to present his/her present and previous passports. I have lost my previous passport and therefore, I am unable to fulfill such a requirement. Moreover, I have not filed any complaint with the local police of this incident. How critical is it not to have my previous passport handy during the interview? Will it be cause for dismissal of my case??
