your options:
i> pay the loan, get a new title with your sole ownership \'n import the car into Canada
ii> make a request to the loan org. to provide you with a letter that they don\'t mind you importing the car to Canada, in turn you would continue to make payments on the loan, the org. might or might not help you with this.
iii> sell car

Your best to sell the car. I did this a few years ago (i had a GMAC loan and I didn\'t have to do anything when taking it acrossed (normail duty fees and safety inspection). But the car was worth the same here in Canadian dollars and I could not sell it. I had to take it back to the states to sell it. In total lost about $15,000.

I imported my car from the US into Canada last year and US customs won\'t let one export a car if there is a lein on it. To get around this, I applied for a Canadian loan at my home bank and paid off the lein.
