Hello everyone.

Me and my girlfriend are thinking about getting married, she is 18 and I am 19. She is a US Citizen, and I am Mexican, living here as a dependent from my mom, she has a working visa.

My question is, if we get married, what do i need to do to start my process as a resident, or what is the legal process we must follow to get my started with my Green card.

Thank you in Advance.

Feel free to come back and ask questions.

Here's an overview of the process in a nutshell:

1. Maintain your nonimmigrant status (in this case, your mom should maintain her status, at least until you file your I-485, and you shouldn't do anything not allowed in your own status).
2. Get married.
3. Assemble the forms and required evidence as per the link I gave you. Essentially this is I-130 and I-485 ("concurrently filed"), evidence of a shared life, proof you entered the country legally (I-94), information about your current status, both of your birth certificates. Items that require some time and effort are sometimes the translation of the birth certificate, the affidavit of support, and the medical exam. Optional forms are I-765 (allowing you to work) and I-131 (allowing you to travel) while the AOS is pending.
4. Send AOS packet and required payment.
5. Receive a bunch of notices.
6. Go for a fingerprinting appointment.
7. Keep collecting more evidence of a shared life.
8. After about 3 months receive temporary work and travel authorization if you applied for them.
9. Have an interview with USCIS (this is after about 4-6 months), where you have to prove to the officer that your marriage is in good faith, with evidence.
10. Hopefully not be stuck in a name check and be approved.
11. Receive welcome notice and green card in the mail!
