This forum was extremely helpful to me and so I want to share my experience here. We arrived 30 min early at the DO. We were called 10 min past our appointment time. As soon as we walked in to the office, the officer introduced himself and swore us in. He then asked for both of our ID's, passports, SS cards, EAD's etc. Then he asked my wife (US Citizen) to explain everything from how we met to the circumstances that brought us in his office. She explained everything in detail from meeting to dating to engagement to buying a house to wedding. he asked us for some pictures. We had two weddings one here and the other in India. When he saw my wife dressed up as an Indian bride, he smiled. He was a lot more loosened up after that. He then asked me all the "yes or no" questions from 485. I had made a mistake on the "arrest" question. I explained why I misunderstood that question and handed over all court docs and police docs in reference to a DWI I had in 2005. He said he is glad that I am honest about that. He said even if you are not sure, it is better to say yes and USCIS can make the judgement about whether it is critical to the petition or not. We went through all the yes or no questions in 485 and then he asked for "joint documents" which I had plenty. The officer, a gentleman in his early 30's was very personable and professional. At the end he said "I have everything I need here to make a decision. If I had your "security check", I would have stamped your passport. It's too soon, looks like you just applied in December". I asked "Is this name check?". He said "Name check is one of different checks. As long as everything comes back fine, you will receive a letter and then the card in the mail". And he told us the interview was done and we can leave.
Does any of you know how long the "security check" takes? It seems like some other people who applied in DO on the same week as mine got their passport stamped on the day of the interview. I am a little confused
