We had our interview for AOS this morning at 8:30
we waited until 9AM, a nice officer took us in, basically went through all our paper work, confirmed names, addresses etc.
He asked about the age difference and said i am sorry to ask this but didnt you think the age would be a barrier to you?
We explained that how we thought it didn't matter etc.
He went through our I-864 asking for evidence of assets which we had copies of, he signed it approved.
Then he asked for joint evidence which we had and gave to him.
He didn't ask for a new I-864 or anything.
Then he began picking at my I-94 which his staple remover, then my wife started getting emotional.
He asked for my EADS then said be right back, came back with the Stamp, pressed it extra hard into my british passport (took 10 minutes to fully dry)
SO Cis is pretty dumb to approve the case huh?

Although, I do not agree with your title- " CIS is not stupid" - they were just doing their job. Age is not a barrier so far your marrige is real,

We wish you all the best in your married life

Even though in my opinion CIS is one of the worst institutions in the...world, reading your post I failed to see where and why you came to the conclusion that CIS is "pretty stupid"
Am I missing something, or you skipped a few "little details"?

I guess you are referring to me. I wish you luck if your marriage was real, maybe I was wrong, even though all the indications suggested that, and I based my opinion merley based on that. I totally disagree with who said that USCIS is the worst institution on earth, I got my green card based on marriage in 3 month...I won't call that bad would I? I guess you should be thankful instead you are living in the U.S cause the immigration laws are fair, the procedure is relativley fast most of the time and the immigration people I dealt with were all super nice.

To give you an example of what the worst instituion on earth may be like, I was born in UAE and lived LEGALLY there for 16 years and yet I can't even claim citizenship there cause my parents are not originally from there...now that I will call call the worst institution and laws on earth

Well, it's a dig at whoever doubted he will get approved (in a previous thread).

Congratulations token.

(On the other hand, it is an internet forum.... and you can say anything :) :D)

I believe that previous thread was the missing link for me, cause the original post doesn't have anything in it to lead to that conclusion...unles the OP was implying that his marriage is fake.

Congratulations token.

I agree, maybe adding almost in front of anything ;) and I'm not arguing with the idea that INS/CIS has a lot of stupid/unprofessional employees.

If "ToCoolForThis" was referring to my previous post, I can say this: If s/he got the GC in 3 months, s/he is a lucky person...I got my GC in 8.5 years...because of the incompetence of INS...and after another 7 years I became an American citizen...also due to the great work done by CIS...so, from my perspective...CIS on the scale from 1 to 10 is rated 0.01

~Nods with everyone else~ Congrats!! :D

Dont call USCIS stupid. They accepted your age difference and still approved your GC. I know you were paranoid and pessimistic about the interview, but wasnt this a big surprise? ;) :D

He's not calling CIS stupid. He's being sarcastic.

On a previous post a poster stated the implication that CIS would be stupid to approve our petition given the "red Flags".
Not so and i think i proved they know what they are doing.
It is my opinion conditional AOS's are treated lightly, rather it is the condition removal that creates the problems.
My idea is to gather as much evidence as i can for the next two years showing our standing as a real couple then send it with the application, hoping we won't be given a second interview.
Every piece i can possibly gather.
thing is though by that time our marriage will be almost 4 years old further showing our standing.
On a final note, thank you for the kind words and the advice it was all helpful, especially the keeping it short and sweet with the answers part.

If you've been married 2 years, you're getting an unconditional green card.
