I got married to a USC. I have two daughters. We sent all of our papers and when we got the notice receipt we also got the girls' checks for their fees back. My daughters are 12 and 15. We sent both of them for I-485 and for the 15 year old we sent the fingerprint fee also and they sent those back. The notice paper said this :

Recently, you submitted an application for immigration benefits. That form was submitted with an extra remittance that is not required to process your application or the incorrect fee was submitted. Your check is being returned to you with this notice. No additional action by you is required at this time. Does anyone have any idea of why they sent this back?

Does anyone have any idea of why they did this??

Thank you;;

i think that applicant should be at least 18 for the fingerprinting. Ezzaher innak rajul arabi. Glad to answer ur question.

Verify the checks amount. The note says that can be more than is needed OR the incorrect fee was submitted.
By the information on USCIS your 15 year old daughter should be fingerprinted:

"Fee: $325 plus $70 biometrics services fee if you are 14 years of age or older. If you are under 14 years of age, the fee is $225 with no biometric services fee. If you are 79 years of age or older, the fee is $325 with no biometrics services fee. "

Plus you say that they sent "those back", they sent you ALL the fees back, for both of your daughters I-485?

Good luck,

Dear Cherr,

Thank you for replying. The answer to your question is yes they sent me back the fees for the girls.

I sent them the amounts that you told me that I needed. $325 and the $70 for the 15 and $225 for the 12 year old.

I listed the girls on/under my I-485. Do I need to fill out a seperate one for them? If I have to fill one out for them can I do it now?

- I already have an appointment for the fingerprint.

Thank you;

Oh you put them within your I-485...I think the daughter that is over 14 years old must need a I-485 for her.

I am not sure, but I think it has to do with it...you can verify with others, or re-read the instructions of the I-485 and at uscis.gov

So, you sent one I-485 with 3 checks? :confused:
There are NO derivatives for immediate relatives. However, children who are UNDER 18 at the time of the marriage, qualify for a separate immigrant petition filed by the USC.
Your husband should file separate I-130s for your daughters, and all the other documents to go with them (I-485s, etc.). So, you need to file 2 separate cases for them.
Good luck!
