I got my interview notice, but I will have a travel outside usa, So I will be in another country on my interview date, please give me some recommendations:

Ho do I reschedule my interview date? Looks like I have to reschedule, but if I do that, my case will be somewhat affected?
By the way, I am in dallas!

Thanks1

Unless it is an urgent or life death kind of a situation DO NOT reschedule your interview. You are better off paying couple of hundered dollars in penatly/change fees for your previously booked reservations than rescheduling your interview.

Not that you cannot reschedule the interview, its just that your N-400 file moves to some pile on somone's desk and may not see the light of the day for another 6 months (or more). Rescheduling leads to 'delays' in the Citizenship process and everyone on this forum will tell you not to reschedule..... Its your call as to what is more important to you..

Only one recommendation - reschedule your travel plans and attend the interview.

If you don't, your case could fall into the USCIS black hole. Maybe it won't... but you just can't tell in advance, and who wants to take that risk?

It is very simple to reschedule to an interview. All you need to do either personally go to the district office of the USCIS or write USCIS back to the addressee clearly outlined in the interview letter.

And, btw, it is not a problem to reschedule interview. I don't know about Dallas, but at least in San Jose DO, they typically reschedule within 30 days. I have seen 6 cases of rescheduling naturalization interviews in the past 11 months and all of them got rescheduled within 30 days. So, I am not giving hypothetical situation but speaking from first hand experience. And, btw, all of those 6 cases I mentioned were people I personally know. So, it is not a hearsay.

Do NOT reschedule unless it is extremely important

I agree with some fellas here that it is better to attend interview if it is not a family emergency. If it is then there are some threads where they have explained how to reschedule. Hope this helps.

You are very forturnate to receive the IL from the INS already at this point.
You should not reschedule for this important date. I have been waiting for such so long and still have not received any letter from the VSC.
I stuck in Name Check process for no reasons.

I was expecting my IL on june but no luck at all..im eager to go back home coz my mom was under threatment of some kinda cancer and she really needs me at the time my feeling was down at that momment b'coz of backlog and when i spoke to her in the hospital she wants me to go home ang care her.. She was 1 month under cobalt treatment but because of this IL i have to sacrifice not to go home, instead to wait this lifetime piece of paper.. Think and make this piece of paper worth for u... or u have to wait for another chance that u will never knw when will come back again.. Now im going to see my mom if God permit next month..

Gosh! An IL is not more important than a family members health or love.
Re-schedule the IL if it means visiting a loved one in their failing health condition, so you wont regret it later.
