When getting my cetrificate of citizenship, I gave up my green card. My child still has his green card. Is it still valid? If is safe to travel for him using his green card?

I know I can apply for his passport, but l lost his foreign birth certificate, so it will take a while to get a duplicate, yet he needs to travel soon.

Assuming your son is a minor under 18, once you got naturalized, he has automatically acquired US citizenship via derivation, see 8 CFR PART 320 and 66 FR 32138

This would render his GC as invalid, as he is now a US citizen too. You will need to get a BC duplicate for your son. Alternatively, contact your nearest National Passport Info Center and see if they can accept any other proof of relationship, e.g. a copy from your earlier GC filings with USCIS?

I think your son can still travel with his GC. Even though he is a US citizen by law, he needs to claim it (by applying for passport etc).

Your kid can travel with Indian passport. Similar situation for me. I got my certificate end of may 2009 and booked tickets in advance on June 17th. He went with his Indian passport and once he returned in Sep 09, I have applied fo his passport and got it. no worries.

The only legal way for him to enter the US is to use his US passport. His green card is no longer valid.

USCIS/CBP systems may not have updated to reflect that fact so he might get away with this but I would strongly advise against trying.

If you're going to visit his country of origin you may also apply for his passport at the US embassy/consulate there.
