H1 stamping preferable in Bombay or Canada?
Hi folks,
I changed my status from F-1 to H-1 last year. Is it better to stamp in Canada or Mexico, or is it advisable to do it from Bombay (I\'m travelling there next month). If I do it in Canada, I can enter back even if I\'m rejected, but does anyone have any recent experiences if they are strict over there post 9/11 ?

Got a new visa in Toronto this past week

I got a new R-1 visa stamped in my passport this week without any hassles. I had all the necessary documentation for that kind of visa. I am sure they are stricter than before since 9-11; I had no trouble, even though I had been in F-1 status before this for about seven years. I would advise taking every piece of paper you think may help your case, apart from what is absolutely necessary. I do believe that the H-1 status permits a "dual intetion" (i.e. one does *not* have to demonstrate that one does not have an intention to immigrate to the US, like most other NIV statuse), which, in my opinion, makes things easier. Just make sure you have all your documentation.
