Got my iEAD on 07/17/03
I just thought of sharing my experience with Portland and seattle local offices in getting iEAD.

case transferred to CSC on june 26th
Previous EAD expired on 07/09/2003
On friday 07/11/03, I went to portland office at 8:30 AM, since it is the closet office from my home. But the officer at the information booth (who gives the token) said they won't accept my case in their office since my home address on receipt notice is in WA state, even though their office is the nearest local office. I tried my best to convince him but he didn't accept.
So, I went to seattle office on monday 07/14/03 morning at 5:30 AM inthe morning. By the time I reached there already 20 people were standing infront of me. The office opened at 7:00 but I was able to enter the office only at 7:29, since there was an officer at gate who is checking each persons case and then issuing 2 types of tokens based on the case. After waiting for a while we were called at around 9:00 AM. The officer checked our documents and said you came oneday eairlier but I said my EAD already expired. He then said he needs to talk to his supervisor whether he can process the case that day. He went inside and came back and said they will accept my case that day. Then he started typing his keyboard continuosly for 10-15 mins and said I need to come back on thursday 07/17/03 for an interview. Interview I asked ?? he said it will take 10 -15 min and is just to take photograph and issue the card. I asked whether I can get it any earlier he said no. So I went again on thursday this time I could directly walk-in instead of standing in the queue, since I had appointment letter. They took my old EAD and issued me a new EAD card which is valid for 3 months only :-(
I don't know whether CSC approves my case before that day since it was transferred to CSC on june 26th ? Online status says
"On June 27, 2003, your I765 APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION was received here for processing. It is taking between 120 and 140 days for us to process this kind of case. We will mail you a decision as soon as processing is complete"
Does anyone have an idea whether the 120day count starts from Aril 15th (my original receipt date) or June 26th ??
