I went for Info pass today in philly and was told my fingerprints and name check cleared and came back. But my application is still at the VSC. What is the meaning of that and what can I do?

My PD is 03/23/07
FP: 04/17/07
IL : ???????

Thanks

The VSC determines your eligibility for Citizenship based on multiple inquiries, Name Check and Fingerprinting being only two of them.

Also, as far as I know the Service Center does not "push" applications to District Offices. It notifies District Offices that a certain number of applications are ready. The District Office then requests applications.

Good news for you is that the part of the processing that can be the most lenghty is over.

Thanks for responding. But i though the ILs were coming from the service center and not the DO. The lady makes it looks like they were waiting for VSC to send my file. She said" I don't understand, your background check has cleared. but your file is still at VSC. That's why I am

Thanks again

OK, it makes sense. Quoting my previous post: "The District Office then requests applications" (once the checks are complete).

The transfer of your file to the DO needs some time. As frustrating as it may be, it is better for you to be waiting before the interview than after. From this point of view, I understand the DO...

I have a question. I called the customer service 1800 # twice, both time they told me my file has already been transfered to the local district. but that was 2 weeks ago. Now I am still waiting for the IL...why taking so long?:confused:

The USCIS Webpages for processing times by DO specify:
If you check case status online and see that your case has been approved, and you haven't yet received your approval notice or document in the mail, we ask that you wait thirty days from the approval date before contacting us. That is because it may take that long before it is returned to us as undeliverable.
At this point your best bet would be to wait for two more weeks.

Service Centers schedule interviews and send out files. They also maintain and operate the interview queue, down as far as specifying which adjudicator is going to be processing the case once it arrives at the DO.

The processing times until the file is ready for interview is more or less similar for most applicants at each SC (with qualifications for name check etc). So for example, some one who applied in May to NSC, most applicants file processings are complete. Those in states such as Minnesota got interview letters in July, but those in Washington state are still waiting for interview letters (source) - http://www.immihelp.com/tracker/citizenship-tracker.do

You should thus compare your interview time with some one in your local DO. You also need to be patient in dealing with USCIS(I guess easier said than done). Those who applied in July are getting considerably delayed and at TSC the situation is really getting ugly. They may soon need to set up a special backlog clearing center to even send NOA letters for July applicants!

Than you all for your help. I have to look at the bright side. At least I am not stucked in name check so i will just wait patiently hoping may be next month.

Thanks
