Hi

I am applying for N-400 soon. Neither me nor my wife has birth certificates as it was not registered. We are both 40+ and that time the birth registration was not so common.
I got affidavites signed by relatives as a proof for date of birth. I used them in my 485 approval with no issues.

How other have handled this in N-400 processing?

Thanks

I am wondering why do we need birth certificates. aren't you applying based on 5yr residency?

It was requested druing I485 phase. The theory is everything USCIS requested for before can be requested again

Thanks WBH, so you agree that we don't need to attach them to N-400, correct? 'cause I didn't and I am worried.

No we dont have to attach with the N-400. But I read that many people suggested to take them during the interview.

If you havce it or can easily find substitute, then get them ready and bring them to interview.
If not, don't worry about it and dont', in my ipinion, don't spend huge efforts to find substitute

Thanks WBH.

As I told that I have Affidavites signed by relatives and I will take them with me.
Hope full if asked for, they wil be fine.
