Dear Friends,

I am planning to go to india next month and i need to renew my H1B visa stamp on my passport which has been expired on March of this year. I have already papers of extension for h1B visa.

My question is , can I use drop box while iam in india to get new visa stamp as part of my extension ?

Hi,
I think u can use the drop box service according to the site
of US embassy.
It says:
Persons renewing or replacing a visa of the same category which is still valid or which expired less than twelve months ago.

Thanks for the reply. One thing I missed. Even though I am in the same category(H1B to H1B) , my earlier visa stamp on my passport was of my previous company which got expired on this year , March.

now, I have I-797 paper from my current company .and I got visa until next year.

So, is there any problem if i use Drop Box , to get my passport stamped with new company visa ?

I seem to have read somewhere, that they have changed the qualifying criteria for drop box. I am not sure what it is.

Even though I quailfied for drop box, they called me for interview in Mar 2003.

Nothing to worry, made me wait for 2 hrs. Looked at all the documents (including the unapproved I140 case) and approved the visa.
