Hi guys,
I really need help here. I am currently working in San Francisco for a contracting jobs so I am not able to check my mail box down in another city. I asked my friend to check it for me, and she told me today that I got the fingerprint notice. The appointment date is 8/9 , but today is already 8/11!!
I am worried, Would it be still OK for me to mail the reschedule notite???
Is my application going to be considered to be abondanded as what it says in the letter? ?
Thank you for you help :eek:

Just walk-in . No need to send now.

I think you can go to ASC on wednesday afternoon and get it done. You don't need to send the original form now to ASC. If you have time, it doesn't hurt to go to ASC on tuesday and ask them.

I was at San Jose ACS today trying to see if I can get my FP done sooner. He was saying he wonn't do it before, but told me that I can come any wednesday if I can't keep my appointment. Even though the letter says, it's not really like you abandoned the process.

I thought ppl here say FP can be done earlier - but seems like your ASC rep told you that he wont do it earlier! My DO is Seattle, not SJC. But was just interested by your post.

Allowing you to do it earlier is at the discretion of the ASC. It all depends on their workload at the time, and the mood of the officer.

True. that's what my understanding was. I have few friends who had FP done earlier than their scheduled date. Looks like they changed their policy to the extent that they are simply going to not allow walkins before the date. I tried at few different times, talked to their supervisor and went to INS office (infopass) to see if they could help me. Nothing worked.

Going to a different ASC worked for me. I think it really is upto them.

Do you mean that I can just walk in anytime if I missed my scheduled fingerprint time and didnt reschedule it before the date?

I don't know if that's what the poster meant, but it is my understanding that missing the appointment for a few days is not the end of the world. Go to the ASC explain what happened to you and most likely they will take the fingerprints for you and you won't need to reschedule or do any other paperwork. However, don't wait long to go, go tomorrow you don't want to push your luck too much.

My 2 cents.

That's what supervisor at San Jose ACS told me. He didn't say anytime, but any wednesday afternoon. :) I don't think there are any hard rules with these ACSs. Just because you missed your date doesn't mean you abandoned your application. So don't worry much about missing it.

As Huracan suggested I would say go there as soon as you can and talk to them. Worst case they would give you some wednesday or saturday appointment.

Good luck

yuyuan, it usually says on the fingerprint notice (at least it said on mine) something like 'your appointment is on mm/dd/yy and if you cannot do you fingerprints on this date you can come on any wednesday till mm/dd/yy to take your fingerprints.' So just read your notice and I am pretty sure it will say something like this on that also.

Goodluck!

I am in same situation at this moment, I just got FP notice today and it has schedule date of Aug 16, 2007 12.00pm. Today is Aug 17. :(.

I am going to go to ASC on Aug 21, 2007 and already scheduled an appointment using infopass.

Do you have their contact #?
Did you visit ASC office already? If yes, how was your experience? Could you please share it.

It seems, it doesn't matter if we just walk in and complete procedure in two weeks.

trivedird,
Did the USCIS mail it late, or you checked your mail late?
Or postal system delay?

Do you know where the mistake happened?
Its worrying folks are reporting that FP notice arrives AFTER fp scheduled date!!!

This happens, though not often, as is indicated in this forum. trivedird
what you will do is legit. Others here in this forum have taken their envelope and their letter showing that it was not their fault. Go to ASC as you plan and explain, I'm sure they have see this before.

Best Wishes,

USCIS sent notice only to my previous employer's lawyer firm and not to me at all. My previous employer nice enough to inform that they got notice just 2 days back ( i.e. 14 Aug 2006 ) and just checking with me on Aug 17, 2007 whether I got the same or not and that's where I found that USCIS has sent notice for my case to my previous employer.

I still don't have FP notice at my place, so you can say ..

-> miscommunication
-> delay in delivery at my place.
or
-> weird.

:(

You can also make an info pass. You can pick up the FP letter. From other posts it is possible that some ASC's will have your letter there infront of their computer screens if you ask them and provide your biographical information.

Questions about FP walk-in

Questions I have about walk-ins in San Jose, CA:
* Should we try our luck with a walk-in at all?
* If we don't have a good reason (matter of convenience), how many days before appointment can we try to be there?
* WHEN, time of day and day of week, should we attempt walk in?
* How long should we expect to be there? Should we clear-out the entire day?
* Which is better/easier: try to reschedule an inconvenient date, attempt a walk-in (assuming burden on daily schedule) or clear-out the inconvenience and be there on set appointment (assuming no bureaucracy to do that)?

On 'official' FP appointment date/time:
* How much time should we expect to be there?
* OK to be late?
* Should we be there well in advance? How much time in advance?
* What are the parking arrangements?
