Hello, I am a green card holder living in Texas. I became a permanent resident in May of 2001. I have a fiance in Japan and I want her to come here and get married. First of all, how long will it take for me to become a citizen after I apply next year?I will be able to apply for a citizenship 5 years after I became a permanent resident, right? It says depends on a place where I apply. How about Texas?longer or shorter?and after I become a citizen, if she is here in US with F-1 VISA. can we apply for her green card immediately?or do I have to wait before I will be able to apply?

Check this out http://uscis.gov/graphics/howdoi/fiance.htm

Just if you are a US citizen you can apply for your fiance. Since next year you can apply for Naturalization and then after that is approved then apply for her. I don't know the timeline for Naturalization, I read that can takes as long (from the time of the application) up to 2 years I think. I am not expert in that matter.

good luck,
