Just wanted to let you guys know that I am finally a US Citizen...My Oath Ceremony was held yesterday in Lincoln Nebraska...Had to drive an hour to get there and made it on time...Got past the security and went into this really small room and watched some old ladies set up tables for cookies, lemonade and coffee...Finally at 11:30 we were told to go into the court room and hand in our Oath Letters and GCs and were assigned numbers to seat on the podium..I was number 1 LOL...My husband and stepdaughter were with me and set on the benches..Judge showed up at 12:30 and introduced himself...And talked about how important immigrants are to the country..Infact, he was an immigrant himself...The lady that took our GCs then called out our name one by one and what country we were from and we were asked to stand up...We were then asked to raise our right hand and take the pledge (which we didnt have to repeat, just say I do at the end)...Finally the judge got down and said we are now ready to hand out the Certificates and family can take pics...I was first LOL...SO I walked to him when my name was called and I tell you I was almost in tears...As we left the room SSA were standing outside and said we could go to the first floor and update our status ..Plus we had the opportunity to register to vote...I was a little bummed that they didnt have passport ppl out there but I will go to the PO and do that next week..So anyway I went and had some lemonade and cookies and then took care of SS..and then it was hour long drive back home..I am glad to stumble across this forum and you guys have been a great help to me!!...Good Luck to everyone on this journey...It is well worth it!!..Oh and I got some nice lil gifts...Got a lil flag and pin!!
