I-94 validity and EAD pending - please advise

Dear All,

After our recent trip abroad, me and spouse entered US using our current H visas. The visas are valid through Apr 2003 and hence the immigration officer stamped our I-94 validity date as Apr 2003. However, our 485 was filed in Jan 2003 and is progressing normally.

My question is - come Apr 2003, do we need to do something to extend the I-94 date et al or our status would AUTOMATICALLY change from H to Pending Adjustee?

I am concerned about the 3 yr and 10 yr bans for over staying beyond I-94 date and would really appreciate your advise in this regard.

What if I am laid off after 180 days and though my employer does not cancels 140, but cancels H? Will my status still automatically change from H to Pending Adjustee? In other words, I don't have to take any actions (except AC-21), correct?

Appreciate ur help.
