Hi

My Visa Renewal got rejected.Papers reached them on July'9th(before 15 July deadline).
I got the papers back today saying :-
Rejected under Section 221G-Your Application is not clearly Approvable at this time.As per regulations you require a personal interview with a consular officer. You must apply for a new visa overseas at a US Embassy...

Papers attached : Renewed I-94's for me and my wife,Letter from my Company,Money order for 300$.

I am on a H1B with renewed I-94,renewed 4 months back for the next 3 years.
I have been in US for the last 3.5 years with my wife on a H4 and a daughter(born here) living with me.

1. Is it too risky to go to India in such circumstances with all my family.
2. Are more people getting rejected for their Visa renewal nowadays.
3. It does not mention the reason because of which it got rejected.
4. How can i reapply.

I had booked my tickets already but I am confused whether to take the
risk if any.
Please reply. Thanks.. Loki

They stopped renewing visas in the US more than a month back. To get a new Visa stamp you will have to go to a US consulate outside the US. I got mined renewed in chennai so did several others. Murthy.com had some insight recently whe the attorney visisted chennai. I am sure there are severeal threads on this portal too.

221g - some insight

Hi

Thanks for ur reply.
Is it something serious in nature ?
I m planning to go to india with my wife and kid and dont want to get stuck over there.
Will it be a good idea to send them first, it may help in finding what really is missing and sending it from here if need be.

regards
loki.

No no. They were renewing visas in ST.Louis before but now they are renewing only at the embassy. You should be ok. Just have all your documents ready. Unless there is reason to think there is fraud they will approve your visa right away. Dont worry I lost my passport and they still renewed my visa last year in Chennai.

First of all, r u not going to make the trip if you percive a slight risk in getting the visa stamp?

Secondly (from your 1st post) would U go for the without your family. What happens if there are issues. How are they going to carry on out here?

Thanks again for ur replies.
Answers to the questions asked :-

1. Even though i have booked my air tickets but i will not go for visit if there is a risk involved. Bcos i am right in the middle of something very important that would take me another year app. to complete.

2. I was thinking of sending them first and me staying here so that if they need any document etc. from here someone should be here for sending it.

regards
Loki.
