I-94 related name issue for SSN

Hi
I am not sure whether this is the column for posting I-94 related issues. But I saw I-94 here. Hence posting it. Please help me out.

Problem: My name as in Indian Passport : SARVEPALLY SRINIVASCHANDRAKIRAN
Being a south Indian, its typical to have a long name. The Passport officer has mixed my first name (CHANDRAKIRAN) with my middle name (SRINIVAS) and put them together as first name i.e. given name.
Hence, in my H-1 VISA as well, my first name appeared as SRINIVASCHANDRAKIRAN. I was asked to fill my I-94 as per the passport/visa. Hence, I filled the same (rather foolishly, I should say). But due to the first-name field in I-94 being small, I somehow had to insert it by cluttering my name all over the fields. As a result, the officer, entered this "long" first name incorrectly i.e. SRINIVASCHANDRKIRAN. The letter 'A' is missing in CHANDRA. This was pointed to me by the SSN officer.
Her advice was to get a new I-94 with my FirstName column fixed. Now in this regard, I've the following questions:

1. Can I have my first name as "CHANDRAKIRAN" or Should I still stick to "SRINIVAS" because it appears first in the passport.
2. Incase, I can go for this name-correction, what is the procedure to approach in the INS office. FYI, I stay in Atlanta. So, the SSN Officer has asked me to visit the INS Office here in Atlanta. Also, Can anybody suggest me whom to approach there.
3. I tried to book an INFOPASS Appointment. But the website doesn't seem to work. Is there anyway I can get around it and still have an Appointment. First of all is it advisable.
4. If my first name is now changed to CHANDRAKIRAN which happens to come after SRINIVAS in PASSPORT/VISA, will that bring any more issues in the future, when I would be going for driving license or any such official documents I would be applying for (say in future, GC or Citizenship.....hypothetical but still interested to know)
5. Finally, Is there any other issue which I could not capture but I should be taking care of ?!

I request you people to help me out and come out of this mess. Thanks in advance.

First and foremost you need to have your name in I94 exactly as it is in the passport and visa. The SSN office will not accept it any other way. Their verification with INS will never come through.

Doing a name change now is out of question. Your best bet for a name change is when you apply for a new passport when your current passport expires.

Regarding I94 errors, you should go to the INS office at the airport, which was your Immigration port of entry. I am assuming this would be Atlanta. I know that they correct errors regarding incorrect date, incorrect status etc. They should be able to correct the name as well. You could go there without an appointment.

If the above does not work, then you should make an Infopass appointment.

Hi,

My name is Gopi Krishna Gupta Gamini and as I am also south indian my first name in passport is Gopi Krishna Gupta and at the time of port of entry the office removed Gupta as I wrote the name a bit down as I did not find the spaces. I also faced the same problem when I am applying for SSN. In SSN office they said to go to some office and use the above link but nothing is useful. They asked me to call to some immigration office in Cincinnati or cleveland after continuosly calling the help line in the site http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis and finally I called cleveland office and it went to voice mail. I thought I have to go to cleveland as I am in Columbus. But somebody replied back and they corrected the name on phone only and my name is corrected.

If we have issues with this go to immigration department help line and call them and they will correct.
When filling the name check with the officer at the time of port of entry what is the name they filled as it is a large name I want to make sure my name is filled correct or not. They will help one of my friend did the same and he requested to correct the name.

Hope this will help.
