I-94 Expiration

My Family has recently Visited India in February, 2004. Before leaving to India they had applied for the extension of their H4 visa (Form I-539) and got it extended till 09/01/2005. So at the departure they gave away their attached I-94 that came with the H4 Visa. While returning (March,2004) back they got their fresh I-94 issued. But since my son's passport was to expire by end of July,2004 he got his I-94 valid till the expiry date on the passort and not the expiry date of his Visa.
I renewed his passport recently. Now my question is How do I get the Validity date changed on the I-94 to reflect the expiry date of his H4 visa (i.e. 9/1/2005).

Any Help would be greatly appreciated...

Thank You JoeF.
Do you think going to District office (SFO) will help in any way because when I called the General Immigration Information center(SFO) they suggested me to go to the District office.

I had an identical experience, except that it was my passport that expired. It hapened in 1998 and I had only 2-3 weeks for passport expiration. The INS officer at POE gave me an I-94 with 2-3 weeks expiration to match passport expiration and asked me to visit the local (San Jose, CA) INS office to get it updated once I get a new passport. I did exactly that and got the I-94 date corrected to reflect H1 dates. I did not have to fill out any forms or pay any fees. Interestingly, the guy at the INS San Jose office was the same guy who issued the I-94 at the POE!
