On my last trip to Canada I drove my car across the border. At Canadian customs and immigration I first handed the officer my I-94 and then my passport. After a few questions he handed my passport back to me.
On the return part of my trip at US customs and immigration I handed the officer my passport and AP. He asked a few questions and handed the documents back to me and said I could proceed. I then asked "don't I need an I-94". To my surprise, he said "you already have one". Apparently the Canadian officer did not keep the I-94.
I was a little concerned about this and checked with my lawyer. I was told that when driving into Canada, they will enter your I-94 into a computer and then return it to you.
Is anyone else familiar with this procedure?
