I-90 Quick question, urgent

Hello,

I have a quick question that I hope someone can help me with. I filed my I-90 to replace my green card online through e-file a few months ago, but realised there was a mistake on my green card so I have to refile. When I print out my original receipt and form copy, there seems to be some mistakes. There is no receipt number (MSC#### with bar code above) in the "Receipt" box on the right side of the copy of the form. When I looked at my friends I-90 copy for e-file, they had a small receipt number (MSC### with barcode) horizontal in the box. Can you tell me if this is a problem? Is there suppose to be a receipt number and bar code in your copy of e-filing form? I hope this is not a problem because this my copy of evidence to support an error made by USCIS. If you could tell me the answer as early as possible, that would be appreciated.

There was a mistake on your original green card? What kind of mistake? Are you filing I-90 to replace a lost card, or because it is expiring?

If it is more than a month or two after the green card was issued, they will not give you a free replacement even if it was their mistake. They expect you to report such mistakes promptly.

I lost my original GC, so I applied for a replacement. But, when they sent me my replacement (I received it in the middle of last month), I noticed there was a mistake with my country of birth. So, now I am sending in the first I-90 copy to prove it was USCIS's mistake along with my new I-90 application form. Does that make sense?

I think the missing receipt number is because you filed for a free replacement. Before you send in anything, take the receipt you have along with the mistaken GC (or a copy of it, if you already sent it in) and your passport and try to sort it out. You'll be able to find out if it got registered in the system, and ask them what you need to send in.
