I-90 Horror Tale!! Please Adivse ****UPDATE****
I recieved my Family based GreenCard in march 2004. First name was spelled wrongly. I was going back to my home country immediately, so did not apply for correction at that point.
Came back to USA, in March 2005, and applied for correction at an ASC in person(Infopass), Chula Vista ,Sandiego, CA.
My case was filed, the fee was waived because it was an administrative error. Fingerprints and photos were taken. I handed over my original greencard. Passport was stamped with I-551. Told to wait for the processing time One year.
Never received an SRC receipt, but did not realize that it was abnormal, until when I enquired about my card in March 2006, and the NSC customer care told me they held no records of my I-90 submission.
Told them what happened, they asked to send copies of the receipts I received at Chula Vista office, stamp in the passport, original greencard etc. Attention I-90 TSC was where I was asked to send it. This was in July 2006.
Aug 2006, I get a letter, asking me that I did not submit a required document and that was my original green card. Again I wrote back, telling that my original greencard, I handed it over to USCIS back in March 2005 and that I sent those reciepts.
Immediate reply, of Notice to deny, because I did not submit my original green card. I was shocked.
Called up NSC and after hours of grueling wait times, I am told to file a fresh I-90 with the reason of card lost, and to pay the fees.(for no fault of mine whatsoever).
Was busy, so could only send them by Oct 2006, I-90 and cheques.
Have'nt received anything so far(SRC). Cheques are not cashed.
Called NSC again end of Dec, and one kind agent, asked how I send my documents. and took details when I said it was certified mail. He said he was sending some enquiry and I will be listening from them within 30 days for sure.
Have'nt gotten anything so far.
This March it will be two years since I had applied for my correction, and I still don't have an SRC, or am even not sure what the status of my case is.

Would Really appreciate any sincere advice. Thanks
