The checklist of the I-864 form lists the following income documentation:
* All sponsors: a copy of Fed Tax Return for the most recent tax year with all 1099
* Self-employed: a copy of schedule C
Questions:
1. My understanding is that IRS transcript can substitute for the combination tax return+1099+Schedule C. IOW, if I attach the transcript, i don't have to also attach any of the other three. Is that correct?
2. I am self-employed. I will file in October 2008 and may have the interview at the beginning of 2009 (I am told that the wait is about 3 months in San Francisco).
In October the most recent transcript available will be 2007 and
I will not have any transcript or tax return for 2008, and probably only part of 1099s (I may get them after after October). At the interview I will have the 1099s for 2008, but may not have anything for 2009 to show.
Since my income for 2007 was low they will want to scrutinize my 2008 and 2009 income (I must rely on some assets too). But at the interview I hope to have the 1099s for 2008 but I'll probably have nothing for 2009. Won't this be a problem?
Is there anything else that I can I bring ? Will any letter from a company that says it will pay me a certain amount in 2009 do, even though I am not an employee?
Thanks.
