I just became a U.S. Citizen (by naturalization). Previously, I was a permenant resident (Green Card holder, migrated on family based immigration sponsored by my uncle).
Now, I am preparing the forms to file for my husband's Green Card who is in U.S. on H1 B.
I was not earning last couple of years (finishing my medical exams), hence my husband's cousin who is a U.S. Citizen by birth and does not live with us is willing to become a co-sponsorer so that we can meet the 'Afidavit of Support' guidelines.
According to the information I recieved on this forum, I will have to fill an I-864 as well as my husband's cousin will also have to fill out a separate I-864 (since she does not live with us, correct me if I am wrong).
There are few questions regarding filling this form that are confusing and I request you guys to help me and provide information on these.
Form I-864 - Affidavit of support
PG. 1, PART 1, POINT # 1
What should I select on my I-864? a, b, c,d, e or f?
What should my husband's cousin select on her I-864? a, b, c,d, e or f?
PG. 1, PART 3, PONIT # 8
There is a checkbox just before " I am sponsoring the principal immigrant named in Part 2 above.
Questions:
Should I check this on my I-864?
Should my husband's cousin check this on her I-864?
Then just below this, there are 2 more check boxes, one for 'Yes' and second for 'No (Applicable only in cases with two joint sponsors)
Questions:
Which Box should I check? Yes or No?
Which Box should my husband's cousin check on her I-864?
PG. 2, PART 4, PONIT # 19
CITIZEN/RESIDENCY
There are 3 options -
"I am a U.S. Citizen"
"I am a U.S. national (for joint sponsors only)"
"I am a lawful permenant resident........"
Questions: (I am sure, the 3rd option is not applicable to us)
Which Box should I check on my I-864? Option 1 or 2?
Which Box should my husband's cousin check on her I-864? Option 1 or 2?
